Our Team

Michael Lewis RLS, CFP

Land Surveyor & Business Manager

Mike is a registered land surveyor licensed in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky, and a Certified Floodplain Surveyor in Tennessee. He has a B.S. in Surveying and Mapping Science from East Tennessee State University, a J.D. from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville, and an M.B.A. from Indiana University-Bloomington. Mike has been registered as a land surveyor in Tennessee since 1994 and has worked in the land surveying, real estate and legal professions for over twenty-five years. Throughout his career, he has worked on various interesting and complex projects with challenging technical and legal requirements. He has extensive experience in all types of surveying projects and every aspect of land development. Mike is an FAA Certified Remote Pilot with a Small UAS Rating, required to operate our sUAS. Mike also holds the Oil and Gas Site Coordinator Certification required under Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) regulations for certain construction and oil and gas drilling activities. Mike is a member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Surveyors (TAPS) and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

Jay Lewis PE, LS

Civil Engineer & Land Surveyor

Jay is a licensed professional engineer in Tennessee and Virginia, and a licensed land surveyor in Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He has B.S and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and a B.S. in Construction Technology from East Tennessee State University. Jay has been a licensed professional civil engineer since 2002, a licensed land surveyor since 1996, and has worked in the civil engineering and land surveying profession for over 17 years. He has worked on various civil engineering projects, including land development design, roadways, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, low pressure pipe (LPP) subsurface sewage disposal systems (SSDS), stormwater systems, stormwater quality and quantity design, erosion and sediment control, dam safety, and earthwork projects. Jay has also worked on a variety of land surveying projects, including supervision of field survey services, property boundary and subdivision plat preparation, easement plat preparation, topographic mapping preparation, and horizontal and vertical control surveys. Jay also holds the Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Level 1 and Level 2 Certification required for site inspection by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).

Matthew B. Banker, EIT

Engineer-In- Training/Survey Technician

Matt is the most recent addition to LandTech’s professional staff, joining the company in early 2017. He holds an Engineer Intern/Engineer-In- Training certification from the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee. Matt assists in all aspects of LandTech’s professional services, including civil engineering design, land surveying field and office operations, land and utility records research, and preparation and review of survey maps and engineering plans. He is proficient in the use of LandTech’s engineering and surveying software packages as well as the operation of LandTech's static and real-time kinematic GPS receivers, robotic instruments and other field equipment. While at Tennessee Tech, Matt was a student member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
